Your Model 3 died on US-95 near the Spaghetti Bowl, hazards on, in a legal shoulder. Tesla roadside through the app routed to a contractor. The truck that arrived was not a Tesla-owned vehicle. The driver wore a contractor’s uniform. The truck had an NTA certificate number stenciled on the door. The ticket Tesla’s desk collected got passed to that operator’s tariff. Nevada law (NRS 706) is the reason that NTA certificate is on the door. A second Nevada rule (Autura rotation tows) is the reason law enforcement can also send a truck when the call goes through *647. Two systems, one road.
Tesla’s published 2026 channel is the dispatch desk. The truck is the contractor. In Nevada, that contractor holds an NTA certificate. The tariff is filed with the Nevada Transportation Authority. The price is the operator’s, not Tesla’s. That’s why a Tesla call produces an operator’s ticket.
What Tesla publishes about the contractor
Tesla’s published terms say Tesla roadside is a dispatch desk. The desk collects the location, the failure, and the trim. The desk dispatches a contractor. The contractor arrives in a contractor truck. The driver pays the operator on the operator’s tariff. Tesla sets the dispatch rules. The operator sets the price.
In 2026, Tesla does not publish a flat rate for any service. Every job is contractor-bid and tariff-based. Nevada Transportation Authority rules require operator-filed tariffs. NAC 706.408 regulates non-consent tow rates. There is no single statewide maximum on this site. We don’t print a Las Vegas tow rate.
What Nevada publishes about the contractor
Nevada law (NRS 706) requires a tow operator to hold an NTA certificate. The certificate is the legal authority to hook and tow a vehicle in Nevada. Tesla’s contractors in the Las Vegas Valley hold one. The number is on the truck door.
Nevada also publishes the hook-release rule (NRS 706.4463 / 4467 / 4469 / 4477 / 4479). If a truck has already hooked your car and you want it back at the original location, the operator must release it for their set release fee. That rule protects drivers from being charged for a tow they didn’t authorize. It also means a tow is a tariff event, not a flat-rate event.
A third Nevada rule is non-consent tow tariffs. NAC 706.408 governs how those tariffs are filed and published. We don’t reproduce a Las Vegas operator’s tariff here. The operator tells you the number before they start.
NDOT’s patrol is a different truck on a different beat
NDOT’s Freeway Service Patrol covers the most-traveled Las Vegas Valley freeways. Quality Towing operates it. GEICO sponsors it. The published hours are 5:00am to 8:30pm seven days a week. Statewide the patrol clears about 55,000 incidents a year. About 31,500 are in Las Vegas. The patrol changes tires, jumps a 12V, adds fuel, and provides minor fire suppression. The service is free to the motorist.
The patrol is not the Tesla-dispatched contractor. The patrol is on a published beat. The Tesla channel dispatches a contractor anywhere in the valley. The two trucks can show up at the same incident.
Autura rotation tows: the third truck
Nevada State Police Highway Patrol dispatches rotation tows through Autura. The cell shortcode is *647. Southern Command is (702) 486-4100. A rotation tow is a hook to a yard, not a Tesla-aware repair. The driver doesn’t pick the operator. The rotation rotates. The price is the operator’s tariff.
A rotation tow is the right call when law enforcement has already arrived and they want the car off the road. The Highway Patrol can also authorize a rotation tow for an abandoned vehicle. NRS 484B.443 covers the abandoned-vehicle rule: on freeways and primary highways, abandoned is 24 hours. On other roads it’s 72 hours.
Three trucks, three jobs
Tesla-dispatched contractor: a Tesla-aware operator on Tesla’s network. The contractor is trained on the published jack points and the 12V location. The contractor’s tariff applies. Use this for a Tesla-aware tow, a 12V jump, a flat, or a lockout.
NDOT’s patrol: a Quality Towing crew on the published freeway beat. Free to the motorist. The patrol covers tire, jump, fuel, and minor fire suppression. The patrol is off duty after 8:30pm.
Autura rotation tow: a Nevada State Police Highway Patrol dispatch. The truck rotates among certified operators. The driver pays the operator’s tariff. Use this when law enforcement is on scene.
A fourth option is a local mobile EV rescue operator on a Level 2 truck. Charge Pro LV is a referral line for that work. The matched operator holds an NTA certificate for a tow, but the typical job is a Level 2 charge at the bumper. They quote you before they start. They bill you directly. A typical session adds about 10 to 20 miles of range. That takes 15 to 30 minutes of charging time. That’s Tesla roadside rescue.
What the contractor brings to your car
The contractor brings the kit on their published list. A plug kit for a slow leak. A portable compressor. A 12V booster. A flatbed for a hook. The contractor is trained on Tesla’s published jack points per model. The contractor’s bill is on the operator’s tariff.
For a dead pack, the contractor’s published move is most often a tow toward a Supercharger. That move works on a Boulder City shoulder with a Supercharger down the road. It doesn’t work as well in a Winchester garage ramp.
Make the call that fits the truck
A 12V jump on a covered freeway during published hours: NDOT’s patrol, free. A flat on a covered freeway during published hours: NDOT’s patrol, free. A lockout or a long mechanical tow: Tesla-dispatched contractor. An empty pack on a resort curb: local Level 2 operator at (702) 935-4699. An abandoned vehicle on a freeway shoulder: Autura rotation tow through *647.

Frequently asked questions
Does Tesla own the tow truck?
No. Tesla publishes its roadside as a dispatch desk. The truck is a contractor on Tesla’s network. In Nevada, that contractor holds an NTA certificate.
Is NDOT’s patrol the same operator as the Tesla contractor?
No. NDOT’s patrol is Quality Towing’s crew on the published freeway beat. The Tesla contractor is on Tesla’s dispatch network. The two can show up at the same incident.
What is an Autura rotation tow?
It’s a Nevada State Police Highway Patrol dispatch through the *647 shortcode. The truck rotates among certified operators. The driver pays the operator’s tariff.
Can a Tesla-dispatched contractor put miles in my pack?
The contractor’s published move for a dead pack is most often a tow toward a Supercharger. Mobile Level 2 charging at the car is not on the Tesla-dispatched contractor’s published list. Use a local operator for that.
